This application contains one method for obtaining help at any time.
1. Context Sensitive Help.
Context Sensitive Help is available for each control within the application. When focused upon a control, press Insert+F1 (or Caps Lock+F1) if using the JAWS laptop layout. An Edit Field is available containing the help information. It will briefly describe the purpose of the focused control together with keystrokes you can use.
Press the Arrow keys to read the help and press Escape to cancel. This will return you back to the control which previously had focus.
Talk to ChatGPT can be found on the Chat Menu, Leasey Key then M.
This is a live voice conversation feature for talking to ChatGPT. It is intended for quick spoken questions and spoken answers, including questions where current information may be needed.
You can open this application by moving to the Chat menu with the Chat Key then M and then selecting the item Talk to ChatGPT. Press the Down Arrow key to locate this item and then press Enter to open the application.
When the window opens, focus is placed on the Start live conversation Button. This is deliberate. The simplest way to use this feature is to start the live conversation and then leave focus where it is.
The main window contains:
When the window opens, press Alt+L.
You can also press Enter or Space on the Start live conversation Button.
JAWS should say:
Connecting.
When the live conversation is ready, JAWS should say:
Start talking.
Speak your question naturally. When you stop speaking, Leasey should detect the end of your speech and send the question to ChatGPT.
You do not need to press a key after every question. When ChatGPT has finished answering, you can simply ask another question.
If the question needs current information, Leasey may search the web.
When that happens, JAWS should say:
Searching web.
The spoken response should then follow.
If you want to stop the spoken answer and ask something else, press Alt+S.
JAWS should say:
Start talking.
You can then speak the next question.
To stop the live conversation, press Alt+L again. The Start live conversation Button changes to Stop live conversation while the session is running.
If you are using Talk to ChatGPT for the first time, try asking short practical questions. This will help you understand the rhythm of speaking, waiting, and hearing the answer.
For example, you might ask:
For example, after asking about the weather, you might say:
What time is it likely to rain?
This is one of the most useful parts of the feature. You do not need to repeat all the background information every time. Leasey Conversation keeps the current conversation available during the session, so you can ask a natural follow-up question.
The Transcript Edit Field contains the conversation so far. This includes your spoken questions and the answers in order.
Use the Arrow keys to review the transcript. Use Tab or Shift+Tab to leave the Transcript Edit Field.
Use the Copy transcript Button if you want to copy the complete transcript to the clipboard. This is useful if you want to paste the conversation into a document, an email message, or another Leasey feature.
Use the Clear Button to clear the current transcript and begin again.
You might use Talk to ChatGPT to plan something quickly without opening a browser.
Press Alt+L and, when JAWS says Start talking, say:
What is the weather in London this afternoon?
After the answer has been spoken, say:
If I am travelling by train, what should I remember to take?
If you want to keep the conversation, Tab to the Copy transcript Button and press Enter or Space. The transcript is copied to the clipboard so it can be pasted into another document or message.
Talk to ChatGPT can also help with writing.
You might say:
Write a short message to cancel an appointment politely.
If the answer is too formal, press Alt+S if she is still speaking, and then say:
Make it warmer and shorter.
Press Control+Comma to open Options.
Options contains an Assistant voice Combo Box. Use Up and Down Arrow to move through the available voices. Changing the Combo Box selection does not automatically preview the voice. This is deliberate so that you can move through the voices without unexpected speech.
To hear the selected voice, Tab to the Preview Button and press Enter or Space. When you have chosen the voice you want, Tab to the OK Button and press Enter or Space.
This is a live voice conversation feature, but it is still not quite the same as speaking to a person on a telephone. There may be a short pause while ChatGPT decides what to do, especially if a web search is needed.
Leasey has been designed to keep JAWS as quiet as possible.
In normal use, focus should remain on the Start live conversation Button.
You should mainly hear:
Searching web when a web search is needed. and then the spoken answer.
Some websites or news services may not provide information in a way the web search tool can use. If that happens, try asking the question in a different way or ask for a broader summary.
The quality of the spoken answer may depend on the selected voice. Try the voices in Options to find the one you prefer.
The feature uses the OpenAI API key already used by Leasey ChatGPT features.

Insert+F1 opens Context Sensitive Help for the focused control.
Caps Lock+F1 also opens Context Sensitive Help if you are using the JAWS laptop keyboard layout.
Escape closes most Leasey windows or cancels the current dialog.
Talk to ChatGPT Keystrokes.
Alt+L starts or stops live conversation.
Alt+S interrupts the current spoken answer so you can speak again.
Control+Comma opens Options.
Enter or Space activates the focused Button, such as Start live conversation, Stop speech, Copy transcript, Clear, Options, Exit, Preview, OK, or Cancel.
