He currently serves as the **Mayor Pro Tem** on the City Council. ([westcovina.gov](https://www.westcovina.gov/172/Mayor-City-Council?utm_source=openai))\n\nHere\u2019s a breakdown of his position and relevant details:\n\n- Ollie Cantos represents **District 4** on the West Covina City Council. ([westcovina.gov](https://www.westcovina.gov/172/Mayor-City-Council?utm_source=openai)) \n- His title is **Mayor Pro Tem**, which means he steps in as acting mayor if the mayor is unavailable, but he is not the elected mayor. ([westcovina.gov](https://www.westcovina.gov/172/Mayor-City-Council?utm_source=openai)) \n- The current Mayor of West Covina is Letty Lopez-Viado. ([westcovina.gov](https://www.westcovina.gov/172/Mayor-City-Council?utm_source=openai)) \n\nIf you want, I can check whether he has declared intention to run for Mayor in the next election. Do you want me to look into that?"

The mayor is selected annually by the council members, not elected directly by voters in a special mayoral race. I checked recent candidate lists and campaign disclosure reports \u2014 none list him running for mayor.
