This section gives you some useful tips for getting started. In particular, we describe how to use our Help system. In this way, you can gain the most from Leasey fairly quickly.
We will now introduce you to the Leasey Key which makes it possible for you to access most of Leasey's many functions. The Leasey Key is assigned to the Grave Accent key, situated to the immediate left of figure 1 on the main qwerty keyboard, usually above the Tab key. When you press this key, you will hear the word, “Leasey”. Release the key, and then press another key to carry out a special Leasey function. All the Leasey Keystrokes are given throughout this document in their relevant sections.
Note that if while composing documents you wish to insert a grave accent character, press the Leasey Key twice quickly.
Leasey users will particularly welcome the Leasey Help and Settings system. It allows you to learn the many keystrokes available for accessing Leasey's functions directly. It also provides access to a number of settings for adjusting various options within Leasey.
In order to move into Help and Settings, press the Leasey Key then H. There are a number of useful options in the list of choices.
The first item on the menu is Check for Updates which allows you to manually check for the latest Leasey Updates to ensure your Leasey product is current. Leasey is updated very frequently. It is suggested that you check for updates on a regular basis. Try to fit it into your usual computing routine, perhaps once a week. Even if you have just installed Leasey for the first time, it is recommended that you check for updates. It is possible that an update may have been released which is not part of the full installer. Press the Leasey Key then H then Enter and you should be all set.
Imagine this…
You are in the middle of something on your PC. You know Leasey can help, but you cannot quite remember how. Do you open a manual? Scroll through hundreds of pages? Try to guess the steps?
Not anymore.
Welcome to the future of learning Leasey: Leasey Quick Steps.
Leasey Quick Steps is a feature that transforms how people learn and use Leasey. Instead of digging through documentation, you simply:
It is like having a built-in expert guiding you exactly when you need help.
One of the smartest things about Leasey Quick Steps is that it only knows about Leasey information. That is all. It is not searching the internet for answers. It is not pulling in unrelated information from websites. It stays firmly focused on the Leasey product and its features. That brings two major advantages.
In other words, Leasey Quick Steps is not trying to be everything for everyone. It is designed to do one job brilliantly: help you use Leasey with confidence.
Leasey Quick Steps is based on AI technology, giving users fast, intelligent guidance in a natural and accessible way. But what makes it even more exciting is this: at Hartgen Consultancy, we are able to tweak and improve the feature without there being any need for a Leasey update. That means:
So as Leasey grows, Quick Steps grows with it.

Question:
In the Leasey game My Country Place, how do I plant a crop on my farm?
Answer you might receive:
Make sure the in-game date is between the beginning of September and the beginning of November. You can check the date at any time by pressing the letter Y.
Step 1. Press F1 from anywhere on the farm to bring up the Management Main Menu.
Step 2. Focus on “Plant Crops” and press Enter.
Step 3. Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to scroll through the alphabetical list of crops, which will display their planting costs and which type of field they require.
Step 4. Select the crop you want to plant and press Enter.
You will then be asked where you would like to plant it. Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to choose from your available fields and press Enter.
Remember: some crops, such as fruits and greenhouses, can only be planted on large fields. You may only plant one field of any type of crop on your farm.
Leasey Quick Steps is the second item in the Help menu, activated by pressing the Leasey Key then H. You can press Enter to launch the item if you wish. Alternatively, you can always reach it quickly by pressing the Leasey Key followed by Q.
When prompted, type your question or topic and press Enter. Leasey Quick Steps accepts natural language, so just type your question as you would when having a conversation with someone. Alternatively, you can type a broad topic such as WhatsApp or Leasey Cuts. Then press Enter.
After a short pause, the results will be displayed using the JAWS Results Viewer. You can read the text with the Arrow keys. The window can stay open for reference as you complete the task involved. It can be closed at any time by pressing the Escape key.
Leasey contains so many features you may not know where to begin. If this is the case, your question may look something like this:
"I do a lot of word processing and I am interested in features which may help me work with text. What would you suggest?"
Leasey Quick Steps should provide a good summary of some of the topics available. You can then ask supplementary questions if you wish relating to the subject. For example, if Leasey Clips was suggested, your next question might be: "How do I use Leasey Clips?"
Leasey has always been packed with features, but with so much power available, it is not always easy to remember how everything works. Leasey Quick Steps changes that completely. Instead of stopping what you are doing to consult lengthy documentation, you can simply ask for help and receive the answer immediately.
Just fast, practical guidance that helps you get on with the task in hand.
Whether you are brand new to Leasey or already an experienced user, this feature will help you unlock more of what the product can do, with less effort and more confidence. Ask the question. Get the steps. Keep moving.
The third option is entitled "Ask Leasey About Keystrokes." An Edit Field will be presented to you. You can type a single word if you wish, such as Leasey Cuts, and you will receive a response back with everything related to Leasey Cuts. Alternatively, you can ask a question, such as "How do I read the most recent messages in WhatsApp?" The AI technology used for this search should return a suitable (and accurate) response.
Another option in the list relates to Leasey Keystrokes displayed in full. Press Enter on this item to display a web page containing all the keystrokes Leasey has to offer. There are well over a thousand different keystrokes! Each category is denoted by a levelled heading. Press the letter H if neceessary to move through each category in turn.
The next item to mention is Leasey documentation in full. This takes you into a web page environment with links to all of the help topics including this one. However, at the top of the page is a Search Edit Field. Locate this and type a search term relating to a help topic you wish to find, such as, "Leasey Cuts". Topics containing the term will be returned. Each one is denoted by a Link. Press Enter on the Link so as to move into the help topic.
Item 6 on the Leasey Help menu is the Leasey Quizical game.
This game turns product knowledge into a fun challenge. It is not just there for entertainment. It is also a practical learning aid that helps you build a stronger understanding of Leasey’s many features and functions.
Leasey Quizical presents you with 10 multiple-choice questions, each shown on its own screen for clarity and ease of use. Answers are selected using Radio Buttons, making the game simple and accessible to complete in a web browser.
You are invited to work through the questions one at a time, thinking carefully about Leasey commands, features and functionality. Some questions may confirm what you already know. Others may reveal helpful features you have not yet fully explored.
Leasey has a rich set of tools, and even experienced users can sometimes overlook useful functions. The quiz is designed to help you:
This makes the game ideal both for newer users who are still becoming familiar with Leasey and for long-time users who want to put their knowledge to the test.
One of the strongest features of Leasey Quizical is what happens at the end.
When the quiz is complete, you receive:
This means the game does more than test knowledge. It helps improve it. By showing you which answers were right and wrong, the game becomes a valuable self-teaching tool. You can quickly spot the areas where your understanding is strong and where it could be sharpened.
First, press the Leasey Key then H to access Leasey Help. Press Down Arrow until you reach the option "How Well Do You Know Leasey? Play Leasey Quizical", then press Enter.
After pressing Enter on the item mentioned above, you are presented with the introductory screen. Read the text and then press Enter or Space on the "Start the Quiz" Button. There will be a short pause while the unique set of questions is prepared. Although the game is hosted in your web browser, there is nothing difficult about completing the questions. The game is completely accessible with JAWS.
You can read the text with the Down Arrow key, or if you wish, press letter F to move to each form field in turn. As you press letter F, JAWS will first read the question and then each option. A good example would be:
The correct answer, of course, is "Spellcheck text, summarise, use dictionary, simplify text, and more". Press the Space Bar on the third Radio Button. Then press Enter or Space on the Submit Answer Button. You will then be advised of your progress, for example that you are on question 2 of 10. Proceed until all 10 questions have been answered.
At the end of the game, you will be advised of your score together with the correct answers. Leasey will also indicate where you went wrong so you can improve your skill level. For example:
Explanation: The Tools menu lets you perform a variety of text-related tasks like spellchecking, summarising, using a dictionary, and simplifying text.
In addition to the options listed above, the Help and Settings dialog contains several additional items, some of which will be mentioned here.
What's New in Leasey will display a document stating the Leasey build number and the latest changes and innovations.
Get Remote Support will launch the Remote Incident Manager client. This is fully described in an earlier section of this User Guide. However, in summary, when prompted type in a key word for the support incident and press Enter.
Download Leasey Games Module will download the many games you can play with Leasey to your computer. Please refer to the later Chapter of this document concerning playing Leasey Games. The "Setup" Chapter also contains further comment on this.
"Leasey Central" will browse to a special website dedicated to Leasey. It contains audio items, access to a mailing list, and links to software programs you may like to use alongside the product.
"Toggle Whether Typing Echo is Temporary or Permanent" affects what happens when you press Insert+2 or Caps Lock+2 if using the JAWS laptop keyboard layout. If disabled, JAWS reverts to its default setting relating to typing echo, such as whether words are echoed when Space Bar is pressed. In that event it will be temporary, so when you move to a different application other than the one which originally had focus prior to invoking the setting, it will not be in effect. Our very strong preference however is for the Leasey default, which is permanently enabled. When you switch applications, that setting will remain in effect.
Toggle Whether Volume Can be Reduced to Less Than 10 percent" affects what happens when you reduce the volume level of your computer. By default, JAWS will only allow you to reduce the volume level down to 10 percent. If this option is enabled, the volume can be reduced down to 1 percent.
Toggle Whether the Battery Status is Given When You Connect or Disconnect the AC Power is self-explanatory. If enabled, when you disconnect or connect the AC power cable to and from your laptop, an announcement will be given as to whether this is connected or disconnected.
Toggle whether an announcement as to the window visual state is given when you press JAWS Key+T to read the window title. If this is enabled, and you press this keystroke, you will hear the window title followed by the window state, such as, Maximised.
The Help and Settings list contains three options each preceded by a number. They relate to customising Leasey to work with specific features, such as for time conversion, store searching and when working with days and dates.
The Custom Help feature is described later in this User Guide. It allows you to create notes to remember how to work with different computing environments or applications. It is also ideal for anyone training people how to work with JAWS and/or Leasey, since notes can be made to be accessed anywhere or within specific programs.
